Effective June of 2007, All "Health Clubs" Must Purchase an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).  

Chapter 420 of Acts of 2006

"Health club," each facility or location or group or chain of facilities or locations, in which any person, firm, corporation, partnership, unincorporated association, franchise or other business enterprise offers facilities for or instruction, training or assistance in the preservation, maintenance, encouragement or development of physical fitness, conditioning or well being. Such term shall include, but not be limited to, health spas, sports, tennis, racquet ball, platform tennis and health clubs, figure salons, health studios, gymnasiums, weight control centers or studios, martial arts and self-defense schools, or any other similar course of physical training. http://www.mass.gov/legis/laws/mgl/93-78.htm

CPR and First Aid for Health & Fitness Centers

First Aid Course includes information and training in the first-aid skills recommended by OSHA, all in a format that can be delivered in a single day, teaching rescuers to effectively recognize and treat adult emergencies in the critical first minutes until emergency medical personnel arrive. All scenarios and lecture material is based on your company's policies, standard operating procedures, and industry requirements. The core module includes: general principles, medical emergencies and injury emergencies for first aid.

CPR/AED The AED Course teaches the basic techniques of adult CPR and how to use an AED. The AED course includes operation, application, maintenance, AED Implementation Guidelines, and a practice skills session. We have enough equipment and supplies for all students to participate with minimum wait times. Students will also learn about using barrier devices in CPR and giving first aid for choking. The course teaches how to recognize the signs of four major emergencies: heart attack, stroke, cardiac arrest and foreign-body airway obstruction.

Bloodborne Pathogens for those who may come in contact with potentially infectious materials as part of their job, You will learn about transmission of disease, prevention, universal precautions, exposure control, labeling and exposure determination.
